This is one of the best, if not the best, review books for the ophthalmologist (either in practice or in training). It also would be perfect for the medical student who would want a single reference to the topic. It succinctly covers a vast amount of material.

Although I have not yet finished the book, from what I have read I feel it is the perfect beginning book in ophthalmology. At least it was exactly what I was looking for as a soon-to-be ophthalmology resident. I also initially came across it as a medical student and feel it is a great book for medical students considering the field for their career.

A comprehensive book in ophthalmology, It deals with a wide variaty of topics and have the classic Appleton and Lange format. although it contains too much information to learn in a rotation but it serves excellent as a reference.
