Rating: - Good for what it is
This is a very good medical micro book for someone who needs a reasonable complete and accessible reference. It's not a definitive micro book. It's not "Clinical Microbiology made ridiculously simple" either. I find micro really painful as a general rule. I'd never sit down and read this book from cover to cover. That said when I need to know about a particular bug this book generally tells me everything I'd want to know in an organized and understandable fashion.
Rating: - Excellent for medical students, residents, and non-infectious disease specialists who wants to review the basics of this subjec
I have used early editions of this book in medical school and loved it. Rating: - A very good review for USMLE
I liked this book very much. It is a very good review of Microbiology and Immunology for USMLE.
The main section covers major bacteriology, virology and parasitology. At the end of each chapter, there is a brief section with 'PEARLS', most important information in the chapter in brief. Then there is a 40-page section with brief summaries of medically important organisms. There is a concise Immunology section. It is followed by clinical cases and USMLE type exam questions.
