Rating: out of 5 stars - smart, original, fast-paced
This mystery was tight, smart and intriguing. I'm not a mystery reader, but this one got me hooked right from the get-go. Ryan does a great job balancing the personal insecurities of the heroine, Charlie McNally, with the increasingly intriguing plot. Hard to believe this was a debut novel. Secondary characters were engaging as well, though the hero smacked of the "too perfect" curse. The author also chose to ditch a wonderfully irritating coworker. All in all, though, Prime Time was a fast, smart ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - The News Story of Her Life
Charlotte "Charlie" McNally knows her job is on the line. As a TV investigative reporter over 40, she must keep finding the best story possible so she isn't canned in favor of a younger and prettier face. And with November sweeps approaching, the pressure is really on.

Which is why Charlie doubly resents being send on "vulture patrol." Even reporters hate going to interview those who have recently lost loved ones. But this case is different. Melanie Foreman's husband Brad was missing ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Hank Phillippi Ryan's PRIME TIME
Prime Time is Hank Phillippi Ryan's first mystery, but there are more coming, and I'm glad. Her detective, Charlotte McNally, is a great protagonist, intelligent and fun and frenetically caught up in getting the next exciting news story--the story that will keep her job safe from the up-and-coming youngsters always biting at her heels. I love the way the author puts Charlie's worries about having to be the prettiest face, as well as the best reporter, right out there on the page.

The writing ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Exciting New Murder Mystery Series
PRIME TIME by Hank Phillipi Ryan

An exciting new mystery series debuted recently, with Hank Phillippi Ryan's first novel PRIME TIME. The writing is compelling, as the reader is instantly drawn into the world of TV investigative reporter Charlotte "Charlie" McNally. Charlie is a stylish, divorced, forty-ish, Emmy-winning reporter with a wry sense of humor and an overwhelming dedication to getting the story. When the widow of a man killed in a car accident contacts Charlie and asks why she never ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - enjoyable romantic suspense thriller
In most professions being forty-six years old means prime time, but as an on screen TV reporter Charlotte "Charlie" McNally is considered old. She as much as the brass compares herself unfavorably to the sleek new face of the young news anchorwoman, Ellen Cavanagh. Still Charlie hopes to put off father time a bit longer although she is insulted when news director Kevin O'Bannon assigns her to interview the widow of Aztratek Pharmaceuticals employee Bradley Foreman, who died in a recent car accident.
