Learning words and numbers is fun with Big Bird, Elmo, Grover, and the other Sesame Street friends along to help. In the first half of this sturdy oversized book, every page features a letter, A to Z, accompanied by a scene featuring objects starting with that letter. The M spread, for example, shows a moonlit mountain landscape, with Sesame Street detectives Ernie and Bert investigating (with a magnifying glass, of course) the mystery of the missing mitten. Young readers will take pleasure in pointing out the mitten under a tree with a mouse curled up inside and a moose lurking nearby. In the second half of the book, illustrations depict one broom sweeping, swooshing; two hammers pounding, pounding; three big bales of hay; four round rubber tires, and so on up to 20, then continuing with 30, 40, 50, etc., to 100. By then, it takes an entire Sesame Street Fair to show all the items so far enumerated. Two educational books in one terrific treasury! (Ages 4 to 8) --Emilie Coulter
Children can learn their ABC's and 1, 2, 3's with their favorite Sesame Street characters in this colorful, fun, and educational hardcover. What better way to acquire these important early concepts than with their Muppet friends? The ABC Book of Words allows children to learn the alphabet and new vocabulary on every beautiful spread. The Counting Book has number examples on Sesame Street from "one broom swooshing" to "100 Twiddlebugs at the Twiddlebug Fair!" Together, these books make for a terrific over-size hardcover packed with value!

Rating: out of 5 stars - Good choice - just not for a toddler
My daughter just turned 1. She's a big fan of Sesame Street and books. I wanted to purchase a book for her that would provide many colorful pictures, but also begin to incorporate learning words and the alphabet.

My mistake was thinking that I could give this to her for her 1st birthday. I've put the book up, and we look at it together occassionally. Books with standard weight pages are just not an option at this point - that is if we want to keep the book longer than a week.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Classic
An excellent childrens book but 1 to 100 who are they kidding? What preschooler has that attention span? It is a classic though, and classic childrens books often have higher reading and comprehension levels.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Great ABC book for children
I searched for this book after it was suggested by a friend. I bought it for my daughter, who is almost 2 years old. She loves it! All of her Sesame Street friends are there in bright, colorful pictures to help her learn her ABC's. She actually has learned most of her letters already!
We both thank you!

Rating: out of 5 stars - Wonderful colorful Sesame Street book
This is a wonderfully big book. Every page is a different letter or number and the pages are filled with all of the Sesame Street characters. I highly recommend this book if your child loves Sesame Street or is learning the alphabet.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Elmo on cover, but not in book
This book is fine, but I bought it in part because Elmo is on the cover, however, I don't think he is actually inside the book at all (I didn't look on every page, but if he's there, it's minimal compared to the other characters). Book didn't interest my daughter as much as some of the other elmo books we have (lift the flap ones and elmo's big word book)
