Rating: - Whipping, guns, and killing
This book contains references to concepts I would rather not expose our young kids to. There is a mother cow who is running from a fox because she thinks the fox will "kill kill kill" her calf. There is a hunter running around with a rifle. And to me the worst part is that the boy character tells the fox "shame on you", that he is "bad", and that he is going to whip him...and there is a picture showing the boy holding a branch above the fox to hit him with. Yuck ! The X-men book our son picked ... Read More
Rating: - One of my favorite books
This was one of my favorite books growing up and now it is my boys' favorite. They make me read it to them every night. This arrived in good time and perfect condition.
Rating: - Children's book/lots of rhythm
I'm giving this a book a 5 star rating.
It captured the attention of my children.
It has a fast and exciting pace and rhythm...
It's a cute story that holds your attention in suspense while waiting to find out what every character in the book is running from!
Sweet ending.
Great book to read to perk up a young reader crowd.
Rating: - Okay if your child is old enough to understand the word KILL
Lesson to me; read the whole book before I buy it. I glanced at the first couple of pages and bought it for my 3-year old. As I read it to him that first night, I quickly had to adapt some words to be more appropriate for his age. I changed 'whip' to 'hurt,' 'gun' to 'stick,' and tried to sort of skip the 'kill' pages altogether. My child is not ready to have the terms kill, dead or death explained yet. Not that 'dead' or 'death' are in the book, but how do you explain 'kill' without them? Another ... Read More
