Rating: - Not for Christian Homeschoolers
I bought this as a fun vocab activity book, which it is, with the exception of using activities such as page 67's "Crystal Ball" and other horoscope and wizard activities. If I had known this would be in the book, I would have bought something else. Our children have enough evil influences without having it in their textbooks. Call me old-fashioned, call me a religious fanatic, but I will not submit my children to the occult.
Rating: - well worth the money
My 3rd grader has been using this book as supplement to his school work. His teacher gives him the words as an additional spelling test on Fridays. His 4th grade brother enjoys doing the puzzles as well. We have plans to pass the book on to a friend when both boys are finished. There are way too many puzzles for just one kid. But this makes it great for sharing and a good value for the bucks. I'll be buying the 5th grade book in two more weeks.
Rating: - This has been a great help!
At first, my daughter found this a liitle difficult, but now she is enjoying it and is learning a lot. I think she will be as prepared as possible for the 4th grade!

He is quite enthused and can't wait for the next set of words, he's actually started using some of the words learnt. The only drawback is there are quite a few words that he already knows.
Rating: - very good book for my 3rd grader
This book provides solid exercises for important grade 3-4 words. It arranges them in 10 groups then teaches each group with vivid activities and test questions. The contents are well designed. Be careful that this book may be too easy for many 4th grade students. In my case, my 3rd grader found it perfect. She finished it in 5 weeks. Word learning should not stop with one book. For similar word drills, I found Beestar (www.beestar.org) weekly exercises pretty good, too. My child's vocabulary is ... Read More
