Editorial Review:This easy-to-use resource helps readers to master the most important principles and facts in pathology. More than 1,000 questions cover everything from the fundamentals of gross and microscopic pathology to the latest findings in molecular biology and genetics. Based on two of the field's best-selling, most authoritative textbooks-Kumar et al.: Robbins and Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease, 7th Edition and Kumar et al.: Basic Pathology, 7th Edition-Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology, 2nd Edition is an ideal preparatory tool for the classroom, the USMLE Step 1, or the American Board of Pathology exam. * Offers more than 1,000 questions that follow the clinical vignette style used on the USMLE Step 1, emphasizing problem solving over rote memorization. Presented in both single-best-answer and extended-matching formats, they reflect levels of difficulty comparable to those found on the USMLE. * Provides an answer and a detailed explanation for every question at the end of each chapter. * Includes page references and a parallel organization to both Robbins and Cotran and Basic Pathology, making additional information easy to locate. * Presents correlative laboratory, radiologic, and physical diagnostic data to enhance readers' understanding of pathophysiology and to integrate pathology with other medical disciplines. * Uses numerous full-color illustrations to test readers' diagnostic skills. * Delivers a 50-question final "comprehensive" exam on random topics that mimics the format of the USMLE Step 1.

I used this book as a resource of practice questions during my pathology courses in Basic Sciences. I feel that this resource is ok, but there are better resources out there. My reasons for my rating are that I found the question stems to provide to much information so that you were easily able to answer the questions, unfortunately this gave me a false sense of security when preparing for exams. On a more positive note I found the explanations to each question very thorough (though I did find a ... Read More

I don't know about any of the sections other than those on hematology and infectious disease, because I haven't gotten that far in my studies yet. I'm a clinical laboratory science student, and I thought that the Red Blood Cell/Coag section and White Blood Cell/Lymphoma sections were a great review of everything I've studied in two semesters of hematology (Medical students and MD's take heed: Those geeky lab techs KNOW THEIR STUFF). I had fun working through the problems. Really. I also liked ... Read More

Robins review of pathology helped me very much.
The questions and answer explanations were exactly what
I needed to better understand pathology. I would recommend
this book to any health science or medical student.

I would have not gotten through the second year of medical school nor the Step I without this book. The questions themselves have for the most part multiple steps of reasoning which means you must come prepared before tackling this book. My favorite strategy was to use this book after reading Rapid Review Pathology and tackling the questions associated with that book. Once I felt confortable with the basic concepts and ideas this book would drive the point home. Additionally, most of the questions ... Read More
