A warm Yuletide special, A Muppet Family Christmas pairs the Muppet gang with the perennial favorite Sesame Street cast for a holiday celebration. With a blizzard brewing outside, Fozzie's childhood farmhouse on Christmas Eve becomes the backdrop for a medley of holiday tunes--eight in all--ranging from the Muppet band's rousing "Jingle Bell Rock" to Big Bird's sweet rendition of "The Christmas Song." Though the script meanders in part, the 42-minute program shines as a musical revue, seasoned with quick-witted interludes by the culinary comedic Swedish Chef, slapstick odd couple Ernie and Bert, and the diva-like escapades of Miss Piggy. While lacking the irresistible sizzle of The Muppet Movie, the show's finale, which includes Kermit and Piggy under the mistletoe and a cameo appearance by Jim Henson, proves that nothing can dim the Muppets' appeal. --Lynn Gibson

There sre so many of us that are suffering without a copy of the unedited version of mupp. fam. christmas we remember as children....... i beg for one of you out there that owns such a copy please please please make a copy and sell it so i can pass it on to the rest of us, i will pay whatever u want, vhs, beta, dvd, dont care i need to find this before its too late...ANYONE???? please respond!!!

Like everyone else, I am disappointed that there are parts missing from the video version of the show. Luckily I was able to find the original one on Limewire and download it for free. It's the one that is 587 MB. Hope this can help some other people get the real version!!
Rating:  - Muppet Family Christmas Horror!
I like many others bought this anticipating not have to watch a VHS recorded TV copy anymore. To my disappointment, they edited out all the best parts, what a disgrace to Jim Henson!! I bought the DVD which is now collecting dust. I watch a worn out VHS tape that's twenty years old. I would rather sit through tracking problems and the tape skipping, than watch the "new" edited disgrace that was once my beloved Muppet Family Christmas. We have been watching this for years. Unfortunately, in the DVD version they've cut out a couple of songs and the comedy routine between Fozzie and the Snowman (Reindeer, SNOW Darling!) If those hadn't been cut this would be 5 stars for certain.
Why don't they re-release this intact? All songs included and COMPLETE! Look at the prices people are asking for the used versions. Of course I wouldn't sell ours at twice the price.

This is a family tradition in our house: decorating the Christmas tree to a Muppet Family Christmas. So sad that it has been taken out of circulation as I wanted to purchase it for my children so that they could take it on with them and continue the tradition. It's all the muppets at their best. I hope it is rereleased soon.
