Written by medical students who recently passed the Board exams, Advanced Life Support for the USMLE Step 2 is a user-friendly guide to the most efficient study for the USMLE Step 2. The authors have honed in on the highest yield study material--the most heavily tested topics that students should focus their efforts on to earn the most points. Emphasis is on subjects that carry great weight on the exam, but that students would not know they should study, such as medicolegal issues, dermatology, fractures, smoking cessation, preventive medicine, and vitamin deficiencies.Each chapter begins with study hints that spell out what is emphasized on the exam and what is not. The authors also point out pitfalls in answering the exam questions and suggest strategies for guessing well when in doubt. A separate chapter specifically addresses the glossy book, the test booklet that contains questions based on photographs.

- Don't walk, run to the checkout counter to get this book
I had very little time to study for Step 2 and this book was GOLD. I did also use Crush the Boards for Step 2 which is also excellent. Advanced Life Support has all the crucial little tid bits of info that you need. It could be in a little bit more of a clinical context but with its extremely short length and highly crammable format, it probably shouldn't change a thing. - Excellent Book for Step 2 Review-- Amust have and Read
I think that this ("Advanced Life Support for the USMLE Step 2") is an
excellent text for last minute review. It is not intense enough to study
for subject area boards, but is still useful when you don't have enough time
for a more expansive text. I used this and "Prescription for the Boards" as
my study resources and was able to increase my Step 2 score more than 20
points over my Step 1 score.

This is a really quick way to review what you know or may not remember. If you don't know a subject matter, this book lacks the detail to learn it. It is quick and easy to read, with some cute cartoons to help remember difficult items.

A great asset for anyone planning to take the step2 exam. A really quick read..for those final days before the exam. Packed with great 'pearls'. Excellent value for money. Nicely illustrated with cartoons. Needs updating....still talks of two-day paper and pen examination! All in all, I highly recommend it as 'side-dish' to your 'main course' books.

Excellent concentrated book of stuff that was all over STEP 2. You should know everything in this book and then work all the problems in the Princeton Review question book to ace this test.
