Don't waste your time on Dubin's. Dubin's is very basic. I've worked in critical care for 15 years. If you want to KNOW how to interpret a 12 lead ECG this is the book. I can't say enough good about it. I've recommended it to several people. Loaned the book to one person who liked it sooo much... they never gave it back. On here now buying the new edition...

I like this one much better than the 'other' EKG book. It is more easily understood, and is more mature in its presentation of the data. As you get more advanced, and need a refresher on EKG's this one will suit you better in the long run.

I have not had the time to read completely through this book, but I bought it after borrowing someone else's copy repeatedly. Previously I have tried to study EKG's using "The Rapid Interpretation of EKG's," by Dubin, but without lasting success. I am confident I'll get further with this book.
This book is simple and clear without being as repetitive as the Dubin. The illustrations are helpful, and the explanations are concise. Rather than wading through ten pages to find relevant information, ... Read More

even the author admits it's not the only EKG book you SHOULD ever read. I read this book cover to cover in preparation for my EKG final and can tell you that's the truth. Reading EKGs is not as simple as reading this book would have you believe; in the real world EKGs can be messy. Having said that, this book does a good job of providing the reader with an understanding of the fundamentals, thus making it a great place to start. 10 years ago when I was in school, Dubin was the EKG book we were using. A friend recommended Thaler to me and I have been recommending it ever since. He has a casual, entertaining approach (a real treat when your're reading medical textbooks all day) and I still remember some of the examples he used. He starts with how an EKG machine actually works and ends with what I would consider intermediate to advanced EKG interpretation.
