The information in the book is quite sparse, but it's enough to give a functional overview of OB/Gyn so that as a med student, I didn't appear totally clueless in front of my residents and attendings that first week of the rotation. It's short enough to breeze through over a weekend.
I found it absolutely invaluable for the clinical case scenarios at the end of most chapters, which helped greatly for the oral exam I had at the end of my clerkship.

I "met" Dr. Sakala when he gave his OB lectures on Kaplan course. When I learned that he also wrote the book, I was sure it will be a wonderful source of information. I was right - this book is a precise and perfectly written (with many tables, pics) high-yield facts that covered everything I needed in OB for my step 2CK. If you want to pass OB/GYN in the Step 2CK. You need this book; explain everything so simple and clear better than First Aid. I used and pass with 220.

Rating: - Excellent Book for NBME Shelf Exam
This book is great for the NBME Shelf exam. I am a 3rd year medical student who recently took the test and this book hit most (if not all) of the topics covered by the exam. It also presents the topics in table form to point out slight differences in clinical presentation that will help you make the diagnosis. There is also an appendix that lists answers to "what is the most common...." which is helpful for the shelf exam and answering attendings questions while on rotations.
