Editorial Review: Immunobiology, Sixth Edition guides the reader through the immune system in all its aspects - from the first engagement of innate immunity to the generation of the adaptive immune response and its clinical consequences. The Sixth Edition has been thoroughly revised and updated, and now includes end-of-chapter questions. Immunobiology sets the standard for currency and authority with its clear writing style and organization, full-color art program, scientific accuracy, frequent updates, and consistent viewpoint - that of the host's interaction with an environment containing many species of potentially harmful microorganisms.

Rating: - I must be an idiot, because...
... a lot of people are saying this is a good "starter book" or it's very basic- HOWEVER - I find the sentences to be very lengthy and written in a manner that is hard to understand. I am not a med student, but I did complete my BS in bio not more than 5 years ago. This book is a hard read for me- perhaps I need more review in molecular bio.
Rating: - great book
very succinct, comprehensive, and organized book. the accompanying cd consists of about 20 short videos that are helpful, but the cd could be improved with interactive activities.
Rating: - immunobiology
This book is, without a doubt, the best introduction for studying the field of immunobiology. Very easy to grasp the concepts without all the hype.
Rating: - Too dense
This is a good book if you have a good instructor to give you the big picture, but it is incredibly dense. It goes into too much detail on things like the the long list of proteins involved with a given reaction, but then neglects to explain the overall signficance of the reaction.
Rating: - Overall excellent text, and great for beginners
I'm a beginner at immunology, and I have almost no immunological background. My boss, who is a medical doctor that's published and has been cited in this book, recommended this book to me, so that I may catch up to understand his research and build a foundation in immunology.
This is one of the only books I've ever been able to read on my own and actually understand and digest all the material. And everything beyond the first chapter is absolutely new material to me, but this book just ... Read More
