Rating: - Conflict, Action and Suspense
If you're an aspiring writer, you'll probably want to have this book. Through step-by-step instructions, Conflict, Action and Suspense reitarates a great deal of practical ideas on how to develope your storytelling ability. However,if you've read the other tittles on the series Elements of Fiction Writing, you'd still like to own this book, but to use it as a follow-up to brush up on the basic elements of fiction writing. Generally, I found this book enjoyable and instructive; each point well-presented ... Read More
Rating: - A handy keep-on-hand reference
My copy of this book is now dog eared, flagged, noted, highlighted and generally well used. The author gives pertinent information in an engaging format. I have found this book very handy in instilling the "frame of reference" for writing conflict that is technically well-executed. This was a quick read that gave a pretty good bang-for-the-buck.
Rating: - This book rocks!
This is the most helpful book on writing that I've ever read. Period. Every time I read through it again, or page through to reread my highlighted sections, I'm amazed by the mixture of common sense, insight, alacrity and experience that fill every page.
Noble's secrets on subtly and misdirection, finding ways to let scenes, storylines, and themes converge, and insights on character development, transitions, and story structure will improve the work of any author. Guaranteed.

It may, however, get you through one of those boring middle sections by giving you ideas on what it is you need to fix to get your story running again. The book provides examples through the works of others, suggestions, and good explanations as ... Read More
