This book is very helpful when talking with patients. Even if you can not speak well, it is written in Spanish on the opposite page and they can be reading along with you in case your pronountiation is not accurate.

This book is a wonderful aid for those who are trying to learn medical Spanish, or need a tool to treat patients who only speak Spanish (when you have no Spanish experience). All you need to know is Si, No and No Se (yes, no and I do not know); and with these three phrases you can treat a patient immediately and effectively. The book is really good if you don't know spanish and just want to read something to the patient and get a response that you don't understand. Don't get me wrong, it really is a decent book, but the emphasis is certainly not on learning medical spanish and is more on getting your point across to the patient. How you would interpret their answer will remain a mystery to me...I'll let you know how it went when I get back from our medical missions trip to Nicaragua.
