Rating: - Cholesterol -the hidden truths
This is an amazing book.Dr Ravsnkov exposes many flaws in the research that has been done to support the belief that high cholesterol causes heart disease. A very comprehensive approach that enables us to examine the research behind the supposed cholesterol-heart link.In doing this it also acts as a warning to those of us not involved in research, how we cannot always rely on the scientific community to reach an objective conclusion.
It becomes clear that we have all been misled about this ... Read More
Rating: - Narrow thesis, well researched and well proven
If you're a healthcare provider and you want to examine for yourself the simple research facts behind the "lipid hypothesis" of coronary heart disease, this is the best book available. Other books more suited to heart patients examine alternative hypotheses and consider nutritional studies and lay out diet recommendations, but this book maintains a laser-like focus.
From page one the author never wavers from his task of "exposing the fallacy that saturated fats and cholesterol cause heart ... Read More
Rating: - No Longer Being Published
I agree with most of the other reviewers that this book exposes the truth about the misconceptions that the medical and pharmaceutical industry has foisted on the public regarding cholesterol and heart disease. While statins do lower cholesterol in healthy indiviuals with high cholesterol, they improved your chances of avoiding death from CHD only .4% from 98.4 % to 98.8%. This is considered not statistically significant. Moreover ... Read More
Rating: - More conspiracy theory nonsense masquerading as science.
This book is drivel, but also dangerous drivel.
The claim that "Cholesterol is highly protective against cancer, infection and atherosclerosis" and "high TC [total cholesterol] and LDL levels are beneficial at all ages." (by Kauffman, based on Ravnskov's "research" is potentially lethal to people with high cholesterol levels.
Ravnskov notes that 20% of those who die from heart attacks don't have atherosclerosis and concludes that atherosclerosis can't be a cause of heart attacks. ... Read More
