Editorial Review: Like its progenitors Beat Street and Wild Style, Krush Groove is a movie about hip-hop that in its rush to document an emergent culture ignores plot, acting, cinematography, and anything else that makes a movie watchable or worthwhile. That said, Krush Groove contains some nifty performances from hip-hop legends Run-DMC, the always hilarious Fat Boys (see Disorderlies if you can't get enough of their weighty shtick), brilliant MC Kurtis Blow, and Prince protégé Sheila E. Also look out for soon-to-be L.A. Law-yer Blair Underwood in a lead role. Performances aside, Krush Groove isn't def, it's just so-so. --Ethan Brown

Rating: - HOW CAN U NOT LOVE THIS MOVIE
THE STORY OF DEF JAM AND RUSSELL SIMMONS - COME ON NOW THIS IS AS GOOD TODAY AS IT WAS WHEN IT WAS FIRST MADE. IF YOU WANT SOME HIP-HOP AT ITS FINEST, THEN CHECK THIS MOVIE OUT. IT GIVES YOU LL COOL J, THE FAT BOYS, RUN DMC, NEW EDITION AND MORE DURING THEIR EARLY YEARS. THE LOVE SCENE BETWEEN BLAIR UNDERWOOD (RUSSELL) AND SHEILA E WITH "TENDER LOVE" BY THE FORCE MDS IN THE BACKGROUND IS STILL HOT.

This video brought back a lot of old memories. It was great to see the performers in this movie and sing along to the old songs again.

Not only is this movie a classic, but the delivery was fast and packaging was great. Product arrived unscathed.

Krush Groove (1985)
General Plot: An indie rap label tries to get off the ground.
Let's face it. Films like this you don't really watch for the plot. It's all about the music, baby! This film has lots of it, from various Reagan-era hip-hop and contemporary R&B personalities, all delivering first-rate performances. Hip-hop was just beginning to be exposed to mainstream America (and the world!), and "Krush Groove" was a major part of it. in retrospect, some may look at it as "hip-hop ... Read More
Rating: - It's Just Alright
This movie was alright, but not something I'd like to watch again. Once is enough. I never knew Sheila E. had starred in "Krush Groove" and it was kind of weird hearing her rap and mingling with hip-hop artist. She really looked out of place. Other than that, this movie isn't anything to write home about.
