Rating: - Gotta Love That Ancient Mayan Gas
Lovely concert singer Isabel Lewis (Evelyn Ankers) is engaged to marry medical student Ted Allison (David Bruce.) When she unexpectedly falls in love with her pianist Eric Iverson (a very suave Turhan Bey), she turns to Ted's laboratory boss Dr. Morris (George Zucco.) Unfortunately for Ted, this gas is of a particularly nasty sort: it transforms him into ... Read More

I've got to say I really Like George Zucco..he's one of those really fine character actors who always seems to give his all even when in a lesser role or with bad material.
This turns out to be a love quadrangle between 40's scream Queen Evelyn Ankers who plays a singer named Isabel lewis engaged to be married to a college student (Bruce)who works with Zucco...However she has become smitten by a pianist who tours with her (Turhan bey). At the same time Zucco playing another mad doctor ... Read More

Rating: - A Good Trifle of A Movie
Don't expect to see a great horror flick when you watch 'The Ghoul'. It is not one of Universal's best efforts, but it does have a certain atmosphere to it, and George Zucco is always worth watching. A tasty little bon-bon of a movie. Not great by any means, but far from a 'worthless piece of tripe', to paraphrase another reviewer. Entertaining and worth a watch.
