Editorial Review: Bill Hicks was crass, obstreperous, and undeniably offensive. He was also one of the funniest comedians ever, in the malicious tradition of George Carlin and Lenny Bruce, hiding social commentary in the bluster of standup. Rant in E-Minor is probably the best introduction to his work, containing his opinions on such tame subjects as abortion, gays in the military, and Rush Limbaugh. Agree with him or not--and you'd be hard put to find anyone who agrees with everything Hicks had to say--it's devilishly clever stuff; even the dated material is still funny and fresh. Hicks was a twisted genius of the highest order, and he's sorely missed. --Genevieve Williams

Rating: - "Welcome to no sympathy night"
It's hard to describe Bill Hicks' appeal. Towards myself, anyway. It has more to do with his delivery than his material-he loses me, idealistically speaking, with his rants about global fascist conspiracies and capitalist megalomania. Sure, I harbor a certain distrust towards corporate America, but that distrust only goes so far. I certainly don't think that celebrities who appear in advertisements are, erm, performing oral sex on Satan. Bill's material wasn't really all that funny, either. Not in ... Read More

Bill Hicks was a comedian who thought himself to be a philosopher, or maybe it was the other way around. Too bad his material on this album is only "sort of" funny, and the ranting itself far too unfair and hypocritical to be taken seriously.
Sure, Bill had the right idea on a couple of issues (the military is a crock, corporations who abuse people are evil). His argument tactic appears to be that the only people with a right to an opinion are Bill Hicks and anybody else who agrees unconditionally ... Read More

Excellent collection for Hicks fans old and new, this is a complilation of brutal, angry, ranting clips (in E minor) from the brutal, angry, ranting, and insightful late comic. My favorite Hicks album, it has the funniest and angriest clips as he screams, raves, and opines on topics just as relevant today, if not more so.
Not a single show, but a collection of standup pieces laced with brief, musical interludes and sound cut-ups, similar to Arizona Bay, this is longer and even more irate. Topics include ... Read More
Rating: - Some of his best material, but...
The pasted-together nature of this CD is really, really distracting. It starts out strong, but then the flow is cut off by a sound collage of Bill heckling his audience, which is funny for the first 30 seconds or so. Unfortunately, it's the longest track on the CD. Its unfortunate placement, right when Bill's at his peak, just kills all the momentum he's built. It never picks back up from there because of similar distractions. It keeps throwing in totally unnecessary musical interludes (let's put it this way: I'm as big ... Read More

If you're a fan of Bill Hicks, as I have grown to be, I would expect you to enjoy this.
