Rating: - weak
A barely listenable album, the 80's were really not kind to a lot of great artists.
Rating: - It was cool in the '80s, not so in the '00s
I loved listening to this Album when it was on LP because I was a campy 22 year old. Now that I am a still campy 42 year old, this CD is not as cool.I am no longer feeling it beyond "My Secret Place" and "Number One" (which were the first two tracks).
Rating: - Delayed Awareness of Genius
I bought this when it first came out (on tape) and felt disappointed and couldn't relate to it. It took me years (and a new CD) to realize how prescient and brilliant this piece is. I find that many of the songs, especially "The Beat of Black Wings", roll around in my head during the day. If you dismissed this collection years ago, but feel smarter/more mature now -- I recommend you revisit it.
Rating: - The dull 80's

There is a duet with Billy Idol on this CD which is one of the worst duo performaces of all time. I don't know who ... Read More
Rating: - One of Joni's Very Best
When I first purchased this CD some years ago, I tried to it a few times and decided that it wasn't for me. First, it wasn't what I expected from Joni Mitchell. Second, I didn't know what to make of the music. After awhile, though, melodies from a couple of the songs came percolating back into my head and I came back to this CD. Now it's permanently in my player.
What I can say about this music is that it is eclectic and interesting, jazzy in part, creative and very, very good. It is hard ... Read More
