Rating: - good--for the beginner, that is
This CD entitled 16 Most Requested Songs tries to give the very best of Louis Armstrong in just sixteen numbers. I don't think that's possible; but at least they gave it a whirl.
"Mack The Knife" features Louis singing this number perfectly with a strong jazz arrangement in the background. Louis never misses a note, either! As a jazz great, and a charming singer with a rustic voice, he proved to bring light and joy to the music. His trumpet skills was refreshing and many of the songs have brought tears to my eyes. Rating: - Classic songs, classic performer, how could you not buy this?
I love the old-timers, their music and their style! It is an understatement to say that, "They don't make 'em like they used to!" I am an elementary school teacher and I like to give my students the opportunity to sample "good" music while they are learning in my classroom. This music qualifies in that category! That's why I want to make it part of my personal collection!
Rating: - grand example of original jazz how it was meant to be.
