i bought this album because i love jazz and because i love nancy wilson. if you want to hear some great big band jazz music, try the classic stuff -- ellington, basie, ray, wilson (gerald, that is); the jazzy performance of the pops orchestra is not anything to write home about. nancy, however, does it again. she shines on her performances here, especially "i can't get started" -- although, she may have been outmatched during the scatting session on "it don't mean a thing." ... Thank you Nancy for finally recording standards again! Nancy Wilson breathes life into 3 old standards, I Can't Get Started, It Don't Mean a Thing, and Imagination, as hardly any singers can nowadays. This is clearly the kind of music her voice was made to sing.

OVER THE YEARS I HAVE BEEN HIGHLY ENTERTAINED BY THE BOSTON POPS ORCHESTRA. THIS TIME WITH THIS CD WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT. ON FIRST LOOKILNG AT THE VARIOUS TRACKS OF THIS CD I WAS EXCITED. IT LOOKED LIKE IT MIGHT BE A GREAT CD. AFTER PURCHASING THIS CD AND PLAYING IT I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED. THE ARRANGEMENTS DID NOT SEEM TO BE MASTERFUL. OUT OF 15 SONGS ALL I COULD FIND WAS 6 SONGS I TRULEY LIKED. I KNOW IT MUST HARD TO ALWALYS DEVELOP A GOOD PROJECT.
