Rating: - Angry Blues
While the overall album is very good, 'Angry Blues' has Lowell George on slide guitar in the background, and that elevates it to great! George was an innovator in slide guitar, playing 'down' the neck rather than 'up' as do most others. He was the primary motivator of Little Feat and died WAAAY too early at 34 years in 1979. 'Angry Blues' is a standout track and a great intro to his playing style. I sure miss the guy...SSZ
Rating: - Nice
I am not a big Taylor fan much beyond Baby James. This one is nice and I love Mexico,It seems to me that Taylor is one of those artists who when down and depressed, does better work. His guitar work gets so lost in his later work.
Rating: - A classic only better!
When I started seeing old James Taylor CD on import,I got very excited!
Knowing that these were Japanese imports that were converted into high quality sound! Gorilla is a classic! "Wandering","I was a fool to care" and even "You make it easy" stand out now in the sound, clear and crisp. Check out the prices! I got this import for $7! What a deal! I am a big James Taylor fan from way back . I remember hearing "Fire and Rain" on the radio for the first time...... Gorilla really did not sell well ... Read More
Rating: - James Taylor album
I'm adore James Taylor's music, but I don't think this is his best album. Still good, though!
Rating: - Favorite James Taylor album
I own many James Taylor albums but I find myself playing this one the most. It's effortless for me to listen to. I just love it. Lest you think I am snowed with anything JT does, well...I only like half of In The Pocket (still a good album) and I * detest * "Flag" (ick! ick!). The last later JT album I had an interest in was New Moon Shine in the 80's. Somehow after that I lost interest. However, one must remember those shining moments - this is one of them. This album is sort of a "stealth ... Read More
