Pop pundits might contend that a Poison greatest-hits collection should be an EP. Yet despite jeers from critics, these glam-metal pretty boys produced big hits, filled arenas, and fueled MTV in the late '80s. And the opening track on this 18-cut compilation sets the record straight: "Nothing but a Good Time," indeed. From down 'n' dirty rockers such as "Talk Dirty to Me," "Look What the Cat Dragged In," and "I Want Action," to mega-ballads "Something to Believe In" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," this is a treat for those who like big hair and bigger hooks. Included are two previously unreleased songs, "Sexual Thing" and "Lay Your Body Down," the latter a lush, likable five-minute power ballad. One complaint: the song-by-song notes by singer Bret Michaels somewhat lack the pizzazz one anticipates from a band with such a colorful comportment. --Katherine Turman

Rating: out of 5 stars - How can you not love this! A review by a mini-van driving soccer mom...
Around a year ago, we were driving in the van on the way home from the pool...My husband & me, and our 4 kids in the back. "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" came on the radio. I cranked it up, and my husband & I sang along, every single word. Our kids stared in disbelief, the oldest (9) semi-mortified with embarrassment, and, I'd like to think, a little impressed. Right then & there I told my husband we needed some Poison. I ordered this cd the minute we got home.

It's been ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Cheap Imitators at Best
I liked this band much better when they were called....KIX!
What a bunch of rip off artists these guys are.
They came to every Kix show they could and stole their act.
Has anyone noticed that Poison is the name of an early Kix song?!
Coincidence? I think not. Enjoy this album if you must.
Go check out the real McCoys by supporting Kix's albums. They are true rock and roll. These guys are total clowns.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Plenty of hits, not many misses
This best of collection is worthy of note for a few reasons. Firstly, you know those best of albums where it seems that the person putting the project together didn't really know what the bands best songs actually were? Like the couple of Savatage best of discs and the Collection of Metal disc that did such disservice to Saxon? Well this ain't one of them. This actually is basically the best of Poison, the hard rock band who gave us so many memorable if brainless good time party rock anthems back in ... Read More
