The major Morricone fan is probably going to also want the Rhino two-CD anthology A Fistful of Film Music, but this is a 31-track, 73-minute sampler (at a budget price!) devoted to the western music that made him famous is a fantastic sampler. Most of the familiar Morricone/Leone title themes are here (several selections from "Fistful of Dollars," "For a Few Dollars More," "Once Upon a Time in the West"--although curiously not "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly"). But perhaps most exciting are the many tracks (and movies) you've probably never heard of ("A Gun for Ringo," "Guns Don't Argue"). All of it, however, is unmistakably vintage Morricone, with those twanging guitars and melodramatic, sweeping choruses. Hysterical and epic, over-the-top and genuinely moving, nobody's ever written music quite like this. --Jim Emerson

If you are just looking for the "Musical Pocket Watch Song" like I was it can be found under the Italian name "La resa dei conti" by Ennio Morricone I won't plug where, but it can be found.

The Legendary Italian Westerns, a collection of Ennio Morricone's music from several spaghetti Westerns, is a great value. It basically contains the individual tracks from A Fistful of Dollars OST, several selections from For a Few Dollars More, Once Upon a Time in the West, as well as music from other lesser known films.
At the time of this writing, the original soundtrack for A Fistful of Dollars on CD, has been discontinued for some time, and as a result is commanding a premium ... Read More

Doesn't have the Good, the Bad and the Ugly on this CD. The music is very well mastered -- nicely done. This music is not for everyone. It's kind of strange. Listen to all the sample before buying.

The soundtracks from this genre of films meant more to the stories than the dialog( of which there was little). Some are a bit square but the ones from "Fistfull of Dollars" and "For A Few Dollars More" are outstanding. "Musical Watch" and Title tracks are beautiful. The "Spaghetti" Westerns were somewhat ghostly, playing on ones emotions in the struggle between good and evil and the music of Morricone brought this out beautifully. It's a creative, blend of Spanish, mexican, and western sounds. These ... Read More

I enjoy the vast majority of songs on this CD and those that I am familiar with sound to me like they are the original songs from the movies. In fact the only thing I want to know is what happened to The Legendary Italian Westerns: The Film Composers Series, Vol. 1? I certainly can't find it here at Amazon. Ennio Morricone was a composer for all types of music, but by far his music for the Spaghetti Westerns was unmatched. It gave it that boost to make it live beyond being a B grade Western to cult status. ... Read More
