Rating: - Electric Hot Tuna
I saw Hot Tuna so many times in the 70's, I can't even recall how many concerts I went to (for a myriad of reasons), and some of those concerts lasted at least six or seven hours. I remember when all of the material on this album was brand new, it was Electric Hot Tuna at their best. The songs lose a bit of something on this CD being recorded in the studio, this would have been much better as a live album, but it's still great today. But I still believe that the best Hot Tuna album was their first ... Read More
Rating: - Best played loud
This is one of the good electric Tuna albums, along with Hopkorv (not universally loved, except by me apparently). This is probably the most "commercial" of any HT albums, if it is possible to say such a thing, with a wink and a nod to that with the aptly titled "Hit Single #1", which actually got some radio rotation when it came out. Serpent of Dreams became an instant classic, and remains in the songlist today. I good intro to electric Tuna for the unitiated.
Rating: - My favorite!
Heavy Hot Tuna, this is my favorite album by these guys. Not that there is a thing wrong with any of their other efforts; this is just the one that got to me. Heavier, little bit more "rock-ier" than their earlier efforts; "America's Choice" is where I recommend a newcomer to start.....

As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various recordings from the 60's and 70's.
"America's Choice"-Hot Tuna's first delivery with Bob Steeler taking over for Sammy Piazza on drums is the initial album that Jorma would call part of the "Metal Years" ("Yellow Fever" and "Hoppkorv" being the other two).
Bob Steeler fits into the fold perfectly. His solid rock and roll style ... Read More
Rating: - Hot Tuna at their rockin' best
One thing about this recording that is incredibly important...PLAY IT LOUD! You really got to in order to fully appreciate this rockin' release by Hot Tuna. American Choice is in my top ten favorite rock albums. Jorma and Jack were on a roll here and this really represents the golden age of Hot Tuna. So for all you old hippies out there, play it proudly!
