Editorial Review: Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were attempting mini-radio plays in the writing and production work with the Coasters that provided all concerned with a string of hits that ran from 1955 into the early '60s. They added a few things to their memories of chestnuts like The Shadow Knows, however: the new R&B's stomp and swing, along with a subversive edge that made this kid stuff sound knowing to adults. As finely calibrated as anything to come out of the era's recording studios, sides like "Young Blood," "Searchin'," and "Along Came Jones" are definitely raucous, definitively hilarious. Inspirational verse, from "I'm a Hog for You": "One little piggy ate a pizza / One piggy ate potato chips / But this little piggy's comin' over your house / He's gonna nibble on your sweet lips." --Rickey Wright

My husband has played this CD everyday since he received it. Sometimes twice a day. It is excellent. We recommend it to anyone who enjoys the music of that era.

Rating: - Ah, the days when music was good!
I got this Cd yesterday, and I have to say that it is the best Cd ever. I love every song on this Cd, including "Young Blood", "Smokey Joe's Cafe", "Along Came Jones", "Little Egypt", "Idol With The Golden Head", "Run Red Run", and "Charlie Brown". When I listen to this, I'm very glad to listen to music from the past, because I've been listening to this music since my childhood days when I used to listen to it on A.M. radio back in the 1980's. This Cd is not for those who prefer the music from MTV, ... Read More
Rating: - Don't Judge Yesterday's Music By Today's Standards
I have to think that the reviewer who gave this CD such a poor critique was no more than 30 to 35 years of age at the time, otherwise he wouldn't have attempted to rate music that permeated the air waves 45 years ago based on today's standards. It would be like taking someone back in time from 2007 to 1958 and have them play Grunge or Punk - he or she would be driven out of town on a rail.
The Coasters - like The Cadillacs - preferred the lighter side of things back then - and back then ... Read More

Some of the transcriptions from original source to product were a little scratchy, but the disc was OK as a whole and fun to listen to.
