The back of the CD calls Scarlet Rivera "one of America's foremost female violinists." Perhaps she has given good performances elsewhere. Unfortunately on this CD she has a severe problem playing in tune. This is unfortunate, because the other artists seem perfectly competent.

The blending of uileann pipes with violin produces such a pleasing sound that one is inclined to listen to the CD several times in a row. Furthermore, the Celtic flavor richly enhances the Christmas mood, which is exceptionally cheerful in this rendition. However, not all of these songs are strictly Christmas songs, so one can enjoy them year-round.
