Editorial Review: Deleted in the U.S., the acclaimed British outfit's 1989 & second album. Contains seven tracks, including the single 'Downtown Lights'. 1989 Linn/ Virgin Records release.
One of the Most Universally Praised Records Ever, it Never Achieved the Sales Status of It's REP. But Listeners have Never Failed to Be Amazed by the Haunting Beauty of this Album. This is Simply One of Those Great Discs You'll Want to Listen to under Headphones Over and Over Again and Marvel at the Stark Arrangements and the Melancholy Yet Forward Looking Nature of the Lyrics. A Permanent Resident on Many a Desert Island Disc List.

Rating: - God Is Puzzled?
I went into a church recently and sat by the altar was God.
He had a CD copy of The Blue Nile's "Hats" in his right hand and was scratching his immaculately groomed hair with his left.
I said "...you seem puzzled?"

Rating: - Nighttime mood music.
I was introduced to The Blue Nile from a friend. This album is like nice moody synthesizer music that reminds me of cloudy days and late nights alone. "From A Late Night Train" has a cool funky synthesizer sound that makes me want to smoke just listening to it. Great album to listen to when you ... Read More
Rating: - A one of a kind all time great
I feel compelled to correct a reviewers comments that this is a Welsh band. They are most definitely a Scottish band and yet one more example of the greatness of Scottish music from Annie Lennox to Travis to Simple Minds to Deacon Blue and on to Blue Nile to name a few.On a more serious note, this is one of the most original and perfect albums of all time. It transcends time and genre. All these years later it still gives me great pleasure and really does cause goosebumps to appear from the mournful ... Read More
Rating: - SPECTACULAR
I always thought of myself as being pretty much in touch with a large variety of music. How could I have not heard of The Blue Nile? I'm not even sure how I stumbled across this phenominal sound in the past month...
Upon hearing two or three cuts from this CD, I immediately ordered it, and High, Peace At Last and A Walk Across the Rooftops. Hat's is definately my favorite of all four. All are great though. No other band has instantly soared to the very top of my All Time Favorite Bands ... Read More
