Richard Simmons, the great motivator, presents another light-intensity, low-impact, high-energy workout in the style of his popular Sweatin' to the Oldies series. Again live music is the focus--this time 1980s dance hits such as "Celebration," "Flashdance," "Gloria," "She Works Hard for the Money," and "Call Me." Just like in the Sweatin' videos, Simmons leads a large class of people of both genders and all shapes and sizes--all having the time of their lives dancing, singing, and cheering (their noisiness may grate on you after a while). Richard wears his signature shorts and tank top, and his followers wear multicolored casual clothes. The message is that it doesn't matter how you look or how much you weigh--just show up and dance! The dance-style choreography is matched to the music, but no moves require much coordination or memory. Simmons barely cues the changes--just watch and follow. This tape is a lot of fun, especially if you remember this music well enough to sing along! At the end of the tape, the performers dance down the center while we read their names and the amount of weight they've lost. Several have lost more than 100 pounds, and one woman has lost 282 pounds! (No, that's not a misprint.) Simmons is to be applauded for making exercise accessible and enjoyable to a whole population of people who didn't know that workouts could be fun. --Joan Price

Rating: out of 5 stars - Fun workout
This is by far one of Richard Simmons best videos. It is for an intermediate level. You can easily catch on to all the moves after about 3 tries! It is short enough to stick with, and long enough to get results. If you are in top shape, this is too easy for you.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Not his best Video
I love his Sweatin' to the Oldies. I use them at least every other day and I am seeing great results. I bought this video with the same high hopes and was seriously dissapointed. Dance your pants off was made for people ALREADY in shape, in my opinion. I can't keep up with the tape. If you are overweight like I am, buy one of the Sweatin' to the Oldies tapes and leave this one for skinny people!

Rating: out of 5 stars - Fun music but you might trip over your own feet.
I bought this tape mostly because of the fun music. I'm not sure what I expected when I thought about the dancing part of the video. In "Sweatin to the Oldies" for example, the only "dancing" you do is the twist. So I guess I expected this video to be more fun type dancing. Well, there are about a million different moves and he doesn't do anything twice. You start to do one thing and he changes to another. I was falling over my feet and quickly became frustrated. I broke ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - I can actually do this!
I'm not one of those folks that thinks exercise is 'fun.' I exercise only because I've been trying to lose weight the past several months. This video, though, is something I can physically do that I actually enjoy. As a child of the '80s, I think the songs are great, and the workout is enough to make me sweat without being discouragingly hard.
I also like that the video isn't populated by smiling hardbodies who've never struggled with their weight a day in their life. The people in this video ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Wonderful Aerobic Workout
I thoroughly enjoy Richard Simmons videos and Dance Your Pants Off was no exception. My only flaw with this video is that I have to watch my knees and sometimes some of the moves were difficult for my poor knees. All in all, I do recomend this video for people who enjoy Richard!
