With this black-and-white copier, Canon has packed both quality and convenience into one well-designed package. At 13 copies per minute, the PC980 is no slouch, while its analog method of copying produces high-quality reproductions at 70-100 percent of original size.
One of the PC980's more enticing features is Canon's Single Cartridge System. Everything you would likely need to replace is contained in one cartridge, so maintenance becomes a no-brainer. The PC980 also boasts zero warmup time (read: very fast) and automatic shutoff, features that not only provide convenience but save energy as well.
The 500-sheet paper cassette is complemented by a 30-sheet automatic document loader so that you're not left micromanaging your copy jobs. Canon offers a three-year limited parts and labor warranty.

Auto shut-off is a built-in energy saving feature designed to automatically shut-off the copier after approximately five minutes of inactivity. The PC 980 is a small copier with advanced features. It will copy 12 pages per minute and has multiple paper feeding, using an easily-accessible 250-sheet front loading cassette. There's also a 50 sheet multi-stack bypass for those times you want to make a quick copy onto a letterhead or transparency without the need to change the paper in the cassette. The enlargement/reduction and zoom functions incorporate preset ratios of 70%, 81%, 100%, 115% and 141%, and zoom capability in 1% increments between 70% to 141%. In addition, the PC 980 can copy as many as 100 copies at a time.

I have had several Canon copiers over the years.
All have been very cost efficient to run, which is why I bought the PC 980 in August of 2002. I bought mine used at an auction (live auction where I could try it first) with an extra cartidge for $125.00. It warms up instantly, the paper feed works fine. I like the zoom/reduction feature as well as the generous paper capacity. Two drawbacks I've noticed: 1) The machine does not run well if it is too cool in the room - It starts to make an ... Purchased one in Feb, 2002 - since that time it has gone to 2 repair centers, in the last 7 weeks I have had 4 replacement "refurbished" copiers. None has been able to do more than ONE copy at a time. So much for their "30 page automatic feed". Canon will do nothing more than continue to send out another turkey with the same problem. With 9 months still left on the warranty, I am buying a Brother copier. No more Canon products for me!
