Fully loaded with all the authentic features that EA Sports titles are known for, this title is geared to be a NASCAR fan's dream ride. Forty NASCAR drivers and cars and 18 licensed tracks straight out of the 1999 NASCAR season are represented here, along with "live" commentary by famous auto-racing announcers and audio assistance from a crew chief and spotter.
In addition to solid controls, NASCAR 2000 sports some impressive collision and damage effects, and makes up for its lack of car modifications by allowing players to change the game's "NASCAR options" to make the gameplay more real or less real. (Regardless of which way you like it, a rumble pack is strongly recommended.) Provided they're not deterred by the limited diversity in the courses--NASCAR tracks are almost exclusively oval-shaped--non-NASCAR fans will find this to be a decent racing game.
Those familiar with the Nintendo 64 version of NASCAR 99 should note that the 2000 edition is virtually the same game. While the PlayStation version introduces several new features--such as "Fantasy Road Courses" to liven up the endless left turns of "official" tracks--the only significant changes here are updated NASCAR statistics and one new track. --Joe Hon
Pros:
  • Solid controls
  • Impressive collision and damage effects
  • Gameplay can be modified to be more real or less real
Cons:
  • Bland graphics
  • Little variety in tracks, which tend to be ovals
  • Limited number of opponents in 2-player mode
  • Virtually the same game as its predecessor, NASCAR 99

Rating: out of 5 stars - Good Game
A good buy for NASCAR fans. Has a great selection of drivers, from Jeff Gordon to Cale Yarbarough (Cale must be unlocked). The game doesn't have the daytona track and the season is kinda short. You can race anywhere from 3% of a race to 100% of a race. 40 cars in all (including the hidden ones). I had high expectations about this game, and NASCAR 2000 met my expectations.

Rating: out of 5 stars - One Of The Best Stock Car Racing Games For N-64
This is one of the best NASCAR games that I've ever played. I've played NASCAR 98',99',00', 01' and NASCAR Heat. So if your holiday shopping for a NASCAR or video game fan whatever the case may be this is a best bet.

Rating: out of 5 stars - Not what I would expect from a racing game.
After renting this game, I was very dissapointed of it's overall game play. I found the graphics were nothing spiecial, the game was just plain-out boring, with no (big jumps) found in the rush series or the garaphics found in World Driver Championship, which I didn't expect in a stock car racer, but they could have made it a little more interesting with bigger crashes and maybe some better music. If you really want a racer I wouldn't recomend a stock car racer and if you really want one, rent it ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Disappointing
I expected much better out of EA Sports (and I haven't even played the 99 version), especially since this is a brand new game. First, it doesn't make sure of the expansion pak so the graphics leave something to be desired.
That aside, game play isn't very exciting. Even in the most difficult mode ("simulation"), the cars are relatively easy to control and still feel very arcade-like. There are very few car setup options and not much you can do during pit stops. The commentary ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Rentals only.
This game is fun for a while, but what it seems like is PlayStation graphics slapped onto an N64 GamePak. I would only rent this for a weekend, for it will collect dust in your closet before you know you've wasted over $40. If you've ever tried Sierra Sports' Nascar Racing 1999 Edition, this only has a little arcade touch to it. Also, the voice commentary of Bob Jenkins and Benny Parsons matches that of NASCAR Revolution. It only says something like your lap was faster, ouch, or "What ... Read More
