This is one of those consoles where you could feel a change in gaming, like the Atari or NES before it. The games were great, mostly side scroll like anything else back then. The games made by Sega were the best. You should get one if you've never played it before, or even if you have.

I purchased a Sega Genesis console back in November 1989. My Genesis is still in mint condition and I pull it out once in a while to relive the classics. If you do not own one of these gems, I highly recommend that you pick one up! There are hundreds of titles available, most of which sell for only a few dollars. Some of these titles are among the greatest video games ever created; you must own these if you're a collector.

This is probably the best classical entertainment system ever. It basically started Sega's whole revolution and actually continued others from before. Though I advise you not to overpower it.(Meaning don't plug the wrong/opposite way or you'll have to buy another power cord)
Though this would be an extremely hard decision to make, I would say the top ten games are:
