Editorial Review:It may be too cynical to assume Hybrid Theory changed its name to Linkin Park in order to appear right next to Limp Bizkit in your local record bin. But rock-rap workouts like "One Step Closer" and "Papercut" do make Linkin Park a comfortable fit with Fred Durst and his ilk. Producer Don Gilmore (Pearl Jam, Lit) and twin vocal threats Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda serve up industrial-strength rap and rock melodicism with equal aplomb on this debut effort. "Points of Authority" aims to sound like Trent Reznor mixing it up with Metallica, whereas guitarist Brad Delson's Edge-y harmonics help "In the End" and "Pushing Me Away" evoke a dark romanticism akin to A Perfect Circle. Curiously, the band gets by with no bass player, while sample-happy DJ Joseph Hahn's step into the spotlight on the instrumental "Cure For The Itch" suggests a potential for eclecticism that could help Linkin Park outlive its seemingly transient genre. --Bill Forman

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very good
Recently i've been re-listening to some of the old music I used to like when I was a teenager to see how much my tastes have changed.

Most of it i've thought to myself 'I can't believe I used to spend my money on this rubbish' (i've turned into my parents!!) but this album genuinely surprised me. It was a solid favourite when I was 17 and having listened to it again I still think its a good album. It was quite original at the time and doesn't sound dated despite being 10 years old now ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - not their best album but it completed my collection
I bought this on the strength of their later singles such as numb etc and the one song in this that i really liked, 'crawling'. Overall it's an ok albulm if you only like them for their later stuff but it's a bit too raw to be really good.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Review of hybrd theory
well Its good its got some interesting stuff in it and I like it I not sure what else to say all of a sudden my mind has gone blank.
Its got some punky rather than metally guitar in it I would sayits not even punky actyually its Rappy guitar so its a bit groovy but mostly power chordy stuff, nice rapping and good singing its intune. its even got some wicky wicky like old skool hip hop in it yey. I like it even if no one else does. yes I don't like it as much as heavier bands but its good although ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The first and the best!
I loved linkin park from the very first time i heard them when they released paper cut! I bought this album as soon as it was out and i loved it! There lyrics always seem to be able to describe how your feeling at certain times and easy to relate to something ive always liked about them. Chester has such an amazing powerful voice and they write such amazing stuff.. A highly recommended album.
