Rating: - Not what I thought!
I was erolled in a Tai Chi program locally and found that although the same style was taught, the movements in the video were very different. I found it difficult to learn from the video. You need to learn in a live situation. You will find learning in a local program that it is not as difficult as it appears in the video. This is a great form of exercise. I suffered an injury and was able to adjust my movements permitting that injury to heal with my experiencing less pain. The video is good ... Read More
Rating: - Good but too analytical
I have been practicing Tai Chi for about a year, and this is the second DVD I had purchased from this website. I had purchased this DVD as an adjunct to my weekly Tai Chi classes at a local school of martial arts.
This DVD is not a substitute for taking Tai Chi classes, but rather it is to supplement classes and to help you review and practice what you have learned.
I had also purchased a DVD by Robin Linde, which I felt was more appropriate to my needs than Dr. Lam's ... Read More
Rating: - Nice
This is a great instuctional video. The only thing I would like better is if it was in DVD format. The moves are clear and concise. The video teaches you everything you need to know about the 24 forms. After the insturctional potion, he does the 24 forms wich you can follow along with. You can use this video as if you were in a Tai Chi class. This is everything you ever need to become a Tai Chi practitioner. The feeling you get after practicing the 24 forms is revitalizing. Buy this video and ... Read More
Rating: - One of the Best I've Seen
This DVD contains two segments (Six Qigong Exercises and Seven Single Movements) that I do not use because they are so different from what we practice with our group. The segment that I find to be very helpful is the one with detailed instructions of the 24 form. It is very well done and Dr. Lam goes into a lot of detail about each motion. He verbally describes what is happening while one of his students demonstrates the motion. He will have the student pause part way through a motion to point out correct ... Read More
Rating: - Form well performed, explanation very dull
The tai chi form is well performed, which counts for something. There are dvd's where you learn wrong postures. Not so with this one. Mr. Lams dvd's are well done and the moves are performed the traditional way. But the explanation is really totally boring and very, very dull. Mr. Lam should fall asleep from his own talking. At least I do. His voice is slow, monotone, as he describes every move in detail.
Though he gives some qi gong exercises in the beginning, this dvd does not go deeply into the ... Read More
