Editorial Review: Not for the faint-hearted. Baise-Moi defies categories--it features pornographic sex scenes and violent shootings, but it won't fit anyone's definition of an erotic thriller. After separately committing murders, two French women join together in a spree of crime and sex. Because both have endured abuse at the hands of men, the movie seems to start as a self-righteous parable--but the women's actions quickly degenerate into amoral, near random killings, with women shot as casually as men. One reviewer described Baise-Moi as "Thelma & Louise with actual penetration," but it's actually Thelma & Louise without Hollywood sentiment. By refusing to condemn or justify the protagonists' actions, and by depicting both sex and violence with unglamorous realism, Baise-Moi forces the viewer to respond in the most contradictory and basic ways. You may find the lead characters surprisingly sympathetic. Jarring, unsettling, and well worth watching. --Bret Fetzer
Banned in France, this Film Based on the Novel by Virginie Despentes Has Been Described as 'thelma and Louise' Without the Penetration. Lisa Schwarzbaum of Entertainment Weekly Says Baise Moi is "Graphic, Hardcore, the Most Ungussied Expression of Female Sexual Rage Ever Thrown Up Onscreen!" this is the Story of Manu, who is Brutally Raped, and Nadine who Sees her Only Friend Shot. United by Chance, They Begin a Journey Filled with Sexual Rage. Not Your Typical Road Trip Movie!

Rating: - shock does not always equal art
I don't even know where to start with this one. Amateurishly directed, badly acted, metaphorically obvious (a woman is being sexually penetrated and she looks up to see an image of a gun on the television...how subtle!). A movie with an obvious political agenda...all men are scumbags and perverts, therefore it is alright for angry women to commit acts of rape and murder. The film strains so hard to be shocking and disturbing, but the only disturbing thing about it is that gullible people will ... Read More
Rating: - Rape me...
This movie is the french version of Thelma and Louise (same story) but with more violence and sex scenes. For fan only.
Rating: - Not a good way to enjoy a relaxing evening at home with the wife and kids!
I think only the French could produce such a film: it is unerotic though sexual, vicious and violent and has a fairly thin story line. Two abused prostitutes go on a spree of violent revenge on men and end up on the run like Bonnie and Clyde. I watched it all the way through and didn't really enjoy it (it's not supposed to be enjoyed I guess) and I may give it a second airing to see if improves. Definitely not for the faint-hearted or squeamish!
Rating: - A Violent, Pornographic Thelma & Louise
No Holds Barred here!!!!
This flick is misanthorpic to the bone!
It hates the world with a violent passion!
It wants it to crash, burn, bleed, & beg!
If Thelma & Louise were plumb out of their freakin' minds,
they'd still wouldn't be in the same psycho-league as these luna-chix.
They go on an painfully unforgettable murder & sex spree.
This is the most unflinching movie I've seen Thriller & Irreversible.
It (like Thriller) actually ... Read More
Rating: - Banned in Australia - and an offence here to possess a copy on DVD.
As per the title of this review. The film was rated R (18+)then withdrawn on the complaints of the 'religious right' (who of course, had not viewed it) and refused a classification (ie: banned). So, as in so many other cases, we 'downunder' are both down and under in more ways than one. Mushrooms, in fact.
