Rating: - Nile completes their Egyptian trifecta.
This is by far my favorite of the Nile releases.
Churning the Maelstrom was put on repeat play for I don't know how long.
Fast,creative,innovative.
A must buy for metal fans.
Production is ok, where's the snare?
Subject matter is getting old.
Still, an excellent disc and a must have.
Rating: - if you want to get into nile
listen to this album. it is probably their best work to date. if you arent into death metal i dont know why you would bother with this in the first place. support metal
Rating: - Not bad, but...
...the clear highlight here is a ripoff!
This is a good album for the most part. I'm not big into brutal death, but I love tech death, and there are enough techy elements on here to make it more interesting than your average Suffocation clone even had they not used Egyptian musical elements.

Rating: - Holy Crap!

Nile is so much different than other Death Metal bands because they mix an ancient Egyptian atmosphere with Technical Metal and Brutal Death Metal. That formula creates epic songs about Egyptian mythology and beliefs. The guitars are perfect thanks to Karl Sanders and Dallas Toller Wade. The drums are out of this freakin' world thanks to Tony ... Read More
Rating: - One Of My All-Time Favorite Death Metal Albums
No joke. I have listened to In Their Darkened Shrines countless times at this point and I'm still in love with it. Probably the closest thing I've heard to death metal perfection. The majority of those familiar with Nile will probably agree with me that this is Nile's best offering. It's a perfect balance of Egyptian atmosphere, punishing riffs, amazing leads and heavy drumming. If you are new to Nile, or are new to death metal in general, then In Their Darkened Shrines is without a doubt the place to ... Read More
