I had pretty much the same experience as CroquetMan. I would add that when I contacted Thorens US representative, there was no effort made to stand behind the product. Rather, he just referred me to a parts supplier for parts that did not fix the problem. There are other, better choices for a turntable out there.

I purchased this turntable as a replacement for my old Garrard turntable that lasted for 35 years and was still operational, although it had some minor problems. It was a mistake. The Thorens barely lasted a year of light use, then the motor began to run slow (I only used the 33 speed, so who knows if the 78 ever worked?), and eventually it just stopped moving altogether.
