The V15VxMR is one of the best performing cartridges on the market (i.e. provides the most accurate and natural, resonance-free sound reproduction). The V15VxMR reproduces powerful musical passages so that they envelop the room with clean high levels, while not causing the listener to suffer from the sonic intensity of a constantly present resonance that can soon fatigue the ear and tire the mind (as is often the case with moving coil cartridges). Real life musical performances using acoustical instruments are very delicate, asking the listener to reach out towards the performers for the fullness of the experience. Choral voices are breathy and almost angelic in nature. The V15VxMR achieves this kind of quality in its rendition of recorded music. The V15VxMR's detail, warmth and musicality result from its smooth resonance-free output signal, and unmatched mechanical dynamic range. There are real, tangible reasons why this latest in the Shure V15 Series outperforms alternative cartridge designs; and real reasons why no other manufacturer is able to document such claims as meaningfully. The cartridge's Frequency Response is essentially flat from 10 to 25, 000 Hz; Output Voltage is typical at 1 kHz 3.0 mV RMS at 5 cm/sec peak velocity.

Can vinyl playback get any better than this ? It's a possibility (with more expensive elite or esoteric name brand cartridges).However,spending more does not necessarily guarantee you will get more or better sound. I have spent my hard earned $$$ on Grado audiophile cartridges and they cannot match up to this Shure cartridge.I have also bought Audio Technica budget carts and their AT 120E.
