Steel Battalion players operate a strategic, battle mech weapon through 12 action-packed levels, fending off dozens of adversaries while attempting to diffuse a riot that has ensued on a Pacific island ruled by a military dictatorship. Players use a diverse arsenal, including plasma torches and an MK21-6 twin-pod rocket launcher. The game includes an exclusive 40-button controller that has been designed to immerse the player in the role of a VT (Vertical Tank) pilot. It includes trigger buttons to fire weapons; foot pedals to accelerate, boost, and brake; and levers to shift gears and move left to right. Gamers must use the full potential of their VT's abilities in order to survive the battlefield. Mastering the controls of this tactical vehicle allows players to feel as if the VT is part of their own bodies.
In the near future, military unrest runs rampant and you've just been promoted to chief pilot! Your weapon? The state-of-the-art, tactical battle-mech known as the Vertical Tank (VT). It's the most evolved, hi-powered form of military weapon ever created. To succeed, you will master the integrated control interface in the most realistic battle-mech si

Rating: out of 5 stars - Fun with Buttons
This game and controller are everything I was hoping for. The controller when placed on a desk and with the foot peddle combination gives you that realistic feeling that I wanted. The controller takes some time to get use to and some buttons are only used upon starting your Mech but as you do you can soon forget the complications and enjoy the game. The ejection button does make it a bit difficult to eject in time sometimes but it beats ejecting by accident. over all I rate this game above average ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - BEST GAME EVER
I play this game all the time. Everyone says its over priced, let me see you go buy 2 joysticks, shifter, and 3 pedals for less then $200. This game is most exciteing game i have ever played. And if you buy the online version it is great. There is a small comunity of people that play there all really nice and will give you money for free if you ask. People will give you lessons on how to play everyone very nice. There is a huge learning curve tho it takes a couple weeks to get to know the BIG controller. ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Expensive but fun
Steel Battalion is expensive but fun.

It comes with controllers to play the game. The footpeddles are sturdy.

In Steel Battalion, you pilot a VT(vertical tank) though missions. The mech controls well even though the controls are hard to get used to. You generally have allies in these mission that help you comple your objectives. For the most part, these missions are hard.

A flaw in Steel Battalion is the fact that there are not enough missions. There are only a few ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Too much cost for too little!!!
This game is a great sim don't get me wrong but if you have a PC Go buy all the mechwarrior tittles they are all rather low priced now and if your looking for a controller go find a Saitek Flight control system. With all of the mechwarrior games you get more variety in the mech you control, weapon loadouts, speed vs. armor. And lots more missions. Plus online fun with a mission editor. All that for the cost of this hunk of junk, and the controllers work for anything from space fighters, to real aircraft. ... Read More

Rating: out of 5 stars - Hardcore Gamer's R3jo1c3!!!
I recently purchased the Steel Battalion controller/game bundle and since then my brain has been fried. This is the most immmersive and realistic game I've ever played. Getting the behemoth of a controller setup takes a bit of mental effort as it's much easier to simply pop in Halo 2 and go than lug out the controller and foot pedals, but once it is set up, say goodbye to Halo 2!!! The game can be slightly slow paced at times, but only if your strategy is to make it that way, so play the game fast or slow, ... Read More
