Rating: - Another Worthwhile Compaq
This is my second Compaq in the past two years. I was very pleased with my other one, but I downloaded too much on it, which makes it my fault for breaking it. I had to get another computer for school, so after much search I came upon this one. I've only had this computer for a week, but I have been very pleased with it. I think the only problem with it is Windows XP, which doesn't include Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc. I've used it as a DVD player and I've attempted to burn a CD with ... Read More
Rating: - Good value, but noisy
Overall, I've been pleased with this laptop. Downsides are that the cooling fan is very noisy, and it is HEAVY. The upsides are that the fan, while noisy, keeps the thing from burning your lap! Another upside is that it has everything in terms of PC interfaces. It is an all-in-one that is probably best used as a "portable" due to its weight, rather than as a laptop. There's one feature that I **LOVE** and have been wanting on a laptop for a long time: The trackpad has a button above ... Read More
Rating: - My 1st Laptop is impressive
So far so good. (knock on wood) Compaq is a brand I normally shy away from, but this time around they offered a good value ($... before the $... rebates [local retailer]). I love the power of this notebook. The built-in 802.11b works great with my home network after a very lengthy call with tech support. (hold time wasn't too bad, just the troubleshooting) All is well now. I like the features: floppy, CDRW/DVD,fire-wire port, 3 USB 2.0 ports,Wi-Fi, 1 PCMCIA slot, and decent 2.5hr battery. So far, I ... Read More
Rating: - Cheap, slow, and loud
The speakers blew out after 2 days, the fan is obnoxiously loud, and the speed is incredibly slow for a 2.4gh because of the slow system bus. The only good thing about this computer is the 60gig hard drive and integrated 802.11b. After a week I took it back and got a Sony GRZ630. The Sony is twice as fast with a quarter of the noise. The Sony also got better framerates in games even though the Sony only has 32MB of video, likely because it's a faster card, and I'm able to play music loud without blowing ... Read More
