Took it out of the box. Clicked on its little stand and plugged into a USB port on the back of my computer and sat it down next to the left side of the computer and it fit perfectly into the small space I had for it.
The stand has REALLY sticky feet which keep the drive from sliding when you insert a diskette and the provided button makes it easy to pop it out.
The computer immediately recognized the drive and I have had no software conflicts with it.

My only computer with a floppy drive died on me a year ago.
I needed an external floppy drive to read my disks so I tried a
Sony External USB Floppy Drive(MPF88E/UA/181). It works great so far, problem solved.

The sony 2X speed floppy disk drive works great. I wanted to purchase a few flash drives, but I still use floppy disk, and when a flash drive goes bad, you've lost all of your saved data. The external floppy drive is small enough to carry in my case, and it works with vista which is a God send.
If you are like me, and you still like to use your floppy diskettes, get the Sony disk drive. You will be glad you did.

I bought this external USB floppy drive so that I could access data on a number of old 3.5 floppy disks that we had floating around. The unit works like a charm, you simply plug the USB cable in, load the drivers (or in the case of Vista at least, let the OS load them for you), put in your floppy, and away you go. Good product. Works well on windows 2000 & XP. No problem setting up for Windows 2000 and auto setup for XP. Recommend the Sony External USB Floppy Drive (MPF88E/UA/181) if you don't have a floppy drive.
