The Northridge E Series E80 dual 6-inch floorstanding loudspeaker delivers superb audio, whether used for critical listening in a stereo system, or when combined with a Northridge E center channel, bookshelf surrounds and a subwoofer to create a home theater system.Equipped with JBL's tried-and-true titanium-laminate tweeters and PolyPlas drivers, the speaker reproduces high notes with extreme clarity. The lows and mids, efficiently boosted by dual 6-inch woofers and assisted by the FreeFlow flared port, are loud and clear, without unwanted distortion or boominess. The Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS) waveguide ensures that every seat is the best in the house for sweet music and intelligible dialogue, or for just rocking out. Since the transducers were purpose-designed to work together harmoniously, JBL's simple Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network divides the signal with minimal processing (and minimal opportunity to degrade the signal). At 8.38 inches wide and 36.5 inches tall, the JBL Northridge E80 floorstanding speaker takes up a solid amount of space--far more than the smaller bookshelf speakers currently in vogue. When used in conjunction with a second stereo speaker or as part of a comprehensive surround system, the speaker makes music and movies come alive with superb depth and unmatched clarity. The speaker includes a 0.75-inch titanium-laminate dome tweeter, which reproduces high notes and dialogue at the peak of precision. Meanwhile, its 4-inch PolyPlas midrange and dual 6-inch PolyPlas woofers combine to deliver full-bodied mids and lows that sound rich and energetic whether you're playing complex classical recordings, bass-heavy hip-hop, or the latest sci-fi epic. First of all these speakers really rock and roll.They reproduce music and movies of all types,equally well.the bass is powerful and dynamic, even without a subwoofer.the highs and midrange are lively. I find the speakers to be transparent,meaning the speakers seem to dissapear,leaving you good sound. This is what high end speakers do. At JBL'price point a steal to buy 5 star recommended.
