Get the basics done right, at an incredibly low price with the eMachines T2642 desktop computer--the perfect family PC for daily computing: sending e-mails, surfing the Internet, writing reports and more. It features a 2.6 GHz Intel Celeron processor, 40 GB hard drive, 256 MB of installed RAM, a combo CD-RW drive, and Windows XP Home operating system.
The Basics

Hard Drive: The 40 GB hard drive (7200 RPM) is below average in size when compared to other budget-minded desktop PCs. It will provide decent storage space for your family digital photos as well as a large digital audio library--but it's not quite enough for editing digital video from camcorders.
Processor: The Intel Celeron processor might not be as sexy as a Pentium, but it still gets your work done speedily enough. It has a 2.6 GHz speed with a 400 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and 128K L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
Memory: The 256 MB of installed RAM will get you started, but you'll want to add more to handle any kind of multimedia application and most business productivity suites. This desktop has a 2 GB maximum RAM capacity.
CD/DVD Drive: This desktop includes a speedy combo CD-RW drive, with 40x write, 16x rewrite, and 40x read speeds for CDs.
Keyboard & Mouse: The T2642 comes with a standard Windows keyboard and two-button mouse.

Screen, Graphics and Sound
The integrated Intel Extreme Graphics video/graphics card (with 64 MB of shared video memory) is adequate for streaming Internet video, but won't be enough for today's demanding immersive 3D games. It also features an integrated audio card and headphone, microphone, and line-in jacks.
Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The T2642 has a basic set of external ports:
