Editorial Review:The advanced wireless technology built into the DI-524 now offers up to 54Mbps through its wireless channels, allowing streaming videos and other high bandwidth applications, such as online gaming events to operate without the hassle of Ethernet cables. The ability to transfer high bandwidth also makes streaming real time programs more enjoyable and more efficient. Network Security is a precautionary threat and with the built-in advanced firewall, these threats are minimized, making it more difficult for hackers to penetrate through the DI-524. Features like content filtering, MAC filtering, URL blocking, and Domain blocking are useful tools to prevent other unwanted intruders to connect to your network.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great router
Not sure if I'm just the lucky one, everyone had issues and trouble with this router. I had bought and used this d-link router for 5-years! going on 6th!!
with no trouble. The setup was easy for me, configured it even a bit more
advance, it had worked 24/7 for five years, longer than some of my car. I even
recommended this to my sister who used it for 2 years till she decided to upgrade.
Now she gave her DI-524 to my parents who recently got into technology. I configured ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Long-time owner
I have owned this router for over three years and haven't had a single problem with it. I have it mounted on the ceiling in the utility room and we get a good signal throughout our medium-sized rambler, even out to the backyard deck. We have a mixed Mac & Windows environment, both wired and wireless, and everything runs smoothly. I transfer large files to and from my studio's FTP every day and have never had a glitch related to this router, and I'm not exaggerating. NOT ONE ISSUE. I am looking at ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pretty stable router
I'm amazed at the number of negative reviews here. Mine is rev. A3; I bought it in March 2006. I updated firmware one or two times - once, I believe - since I've owned. The only problem I've had is that it has, on a few occasions, stopped sending a wirelss signal to my notebook PC. At first, I thought the problem was with the PC, but I discovered that it was the router. The solution was to logon to the router admin panel, disable "radio broadcast", i.e. the wireless signal, and then enable it again. ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good for basic home use.
I have had this router for 2 years and it has worked well. I haven't experienced any problems I've read in other reviews such as disconnects, however I found that when running many simultaneous connections (Bittorrent), the router would sometimes begin to refuse incoming connections and would have to be rebooted to resolve the problem. Other than that it has worked fine both wired and wireless connections are stable and configuring my LAN was not a problem. This router is fine if you are just going to ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Very unreliable. Do not be fooled by price.
I've had this router for over three years and it's been a nightmare. The wireless connection is just plain unreliable. Even if I am three feet away from the router and get full bars it could sometimes take an hour to actually connect. And when it finally does it will occasionally drop and have to reconnect, which could again take an hour. It's like a lottery with the wireless connection of this router. You can't rely on it if you need to do work. I have a friend with this exact model who has all the same ... Read More
