Editorial Review: Groundbreaking trio De La Soul's inimitable "verbal confetti" changed the face of hip-hop forever. Pulsing with razor-sharp wordplay and deftly turned rhymes, their revolutionary, neo-psychedelic sound introduced itself with the #1 1989 debut 3 Feet High And Rising and the #1 R&B/Top 40 phenomenon "Me, Myself, And I." A harder-edged sound emerged on '91's De La Soul Is Dead , and De La's brilliant artistry continued to evolve with album classics including Buhloone Mindstate ('93) and Stakes Is High ('96). This all-new career-spanning collection of "lost cuts" mines the flip-side of their crossover smashes, including sides from rare Tommy Boy singles, dope remixes, bonus tracks, promo-only specialties, previously unreleased gems, and more!

Rating: - Am I not getting something or what?
C'mon people, do this album some justice! I can't believe this album hasn't gotten a 5 star rating yet.
There has been so much time spent discussing what's wrong with this mixtape and what should've been included/excluded to make it better.
No doubt this release is not perfect. Perfect - no. But great - hell yeah.
Some reviewers have said the classics should have been excluded from the disc. I absolutely don't agree. Why would you exclude great songs? Those classics ... Read More
Rating: - Why include the Classics?
Considering that a Remixes/Rarities cd by definition would appeal primarily to diehard fans, and considering that diehard De La fans already own all their studio releases, I can't understand why this cd includes prereleased album versions of any of their songs. The remixes and rarities make this worth it for de la junkies, but you'll have to weed through the stuff you know, even rip/burn a new copy without the prereleased stuff, to get to the treasure...
Rating: - Remixes & Rarities: Great Concept, Poor Execution
I love Rhino records and I love the fact that they have been compiling GH discs for hip hop artists. I have bought their compilations of De La, Del, Digital Underground, Big Daddy Kane, Brand Nubian, The Pharcyde, and others--and I have been quite pleased by the quality of the collections. They faithfully include a true set of greatest hits, throw in some goodies (remixes, b-sides) from the vaults, and package it all with well-designed artwork and informative liner notes. In general, Rhino gets an ... Read More
Rating: - Great mix for both De La diehards and beginners
Being a lifelong De La fan, the last two years have been good for the CD collection. Luckily, the wonderful label Rhino jumped on board sometime after "AOI: Bionix" was released in 2002, and since then has released a triumvirate of discs celebrating one of the greatest, and one of the most sadly underappreciated, rap groups of all time. First was last year's "Timeless: The Singles," which collected most of the band's hits; then came "Live at Tramps" last month, which captured an energetic, tight ... Read More
