My camera eats batteries, but I resisted investing in a battery charger. I am not a techie so have no idea why all of this is as expensive as it is - nor do I know a good charger from a bad one. However, I do know that batteries are not good for the environment and hope to see this technology replaced someday. On the positive side, I am going through far fewer batteries now and hope to make up the cost of my investment; the charger performs as promised.

Batteries that came with the package,Powerex, lasted only 6 months with very moderate usage. At this point I get MAYBE 15 flashes at 1/2 power on my 580 EX.
The charger is large and awkward. I prefer chargers that have the folding electric prongs rather than the long wire. I also have difficulty seeing if the diode is green or red, charging or charged.

The best rechargeable battery and charger I ever had. Batteries last long before recharging. Even if you don't use the batteries for months, it doesn't die unlike other batteries that die if you don't use them. The charger takes about 2 hours to complete charging 4 AA batteries, but it's ok because I always have 2 sets of batteries anyway and 1 set (4 AA)lasts long before I recharge them. I'm glad I purchased this product.

I have owned a similar recharger from Maha for several years and it has always provided quick full charges for my digital camera batteries. This model incorporates the BLOCK into the changer making a more compact package. My old charger is still working, this new unit is for travel.

I use AA batteries specifically for my digital camera. It was most annoying to have a photo moment happen, and turn on my camera to see 'Replace Batteries' instead of what I wished to shoot. I did a lot of research and this combination received the highest reviews. My experience bears this out. The batteries hold charge for up to 4 times longer than my previous (Brand name and expensive) rechargeable batteries.
