EVGA's NVIDIA NVTV PCI-card TV tuner turns your Microsoft Media Center (MCE) enabled computer into a television with a built-in digital video recorder and stereo FM radio--all in the space of a low-profile PCI slot. The single-tuner card uses an NVIDIA LSI Logic DVxplore processor along with 16 MB, 64-bit, 6 ns (2 x 32) SDR memory for premium quality and lightning-quick speeds. The card offers true "Designed for Windows XP" certification, having passed rigorous testing and taking full advantage of the features and capabilities of Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005.
Unlike software encode-based solutions that rely on your computer's CPU, NVIDIA's dedicated hardware ensures uninterrupted performance for a high-quality TV viewing and recording in MPEG-2/DVD-Video-quality for any standard NTSC (terrestrial) TV program--as well as any direct video input from the card's RF coaxial and S-video jacks. It will record FM radio, too, in either mono or stereo.
The card supports Video Mixer Renderer (VMR), the default video renderer on Microsoft Windows XP (and later) operating systems. This DirectShow-based component renders video using the capability of the graphics. It also exposes the application to Direct3D, DXVA, and other APIs.
Connections consist of 1 each S-video (4-pin mini-DIN), RF TV antenna (NTSC), and RF FM radio inputs and a stereo minijack (.125-inch) analog audio output, along with a 4-pin header for audio input and a 5-pin header for video input.
Other features include PCI PnP support, kernel streaming, programmable encoder bitrate via API from XP SDK, raw VBI passthrough with retention of Macrovision flags, and automatic signal detection from source (NTSC, S-Video, or tuner).
Note: Requires Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition 2005; it will not work with any other version of Microsoft Windows. A Microsoft remote control is required for use with cable/satellite set-top boxes, and the card requires a 250-watt (minimum) power supply.

Rating: - dissapointing picture quality, easy MCE 2005 installation
I was mightily dissapointed with the picture quality through the cable input. I am using a 24" Dell flat screen monitor to view, and aside from the MPEG artifacts, the TV contrast and color is horrible. Whites are severely blasted out, there is no true black, and color saturation is minimal. The signal strength of my cable may be an issue and I understand that TVs and computer monitors operate in different color spaces. But the drivers offer no way of tweaking the overlay signal to compensate! ... Read More
