Overall I'll give this game 3 out of 5 stars. Why just 3? The graphics are very good for PS2 and although the story isn't quite original they did a good job adding some new twists and turns to the basic lone hero fighting off the horde of mutant/zombie/alien monsters trying to kill him and spread their infection/disease all over the world etc, etc. Placing the game on a boat in the middle of very bad weather was a nice twist. If you have played both Extermination (2001 release) and any of the Resident Evil games, you'll know what I mean by that title if you play Cold Fear. However, I think the setting - on a ship - is quite unique and I was definitely into the game from the start because of this unique atmosphere. first off anyone who says this is a blatent rip-off of resident evil 4 is an idiot. i thought that too though from the original gameplay footage. but once you play it you realize its so much more open yet closed. you have a set path like re4 but there is more dark freakiness to it. also it lives up to the "old" zombie movies so much better. even though the're technically not zombies. the're controlled by 4 legged bug things called exocells. it is a hell of a wierd dark and scary game. like doom3 ... Not a bad game, lots of cool effects and interaction. The shooter perspective gets a little dicey in tight spaces, tough to shoot foes from corners. Rent it first.

Plain and simple, this game is way to freaking hard. Once u get it, after about about two or three weeks, it gets pretty fun, but it almost ins't worth it.
