The WS-60 speaker utilizes a unique multi-transducer arrangement that provides numerous advantages over traditional designs. Firstly, the multiple woofers provide higher power handling and output levels providing excellent bass response and dynamics, an absolute must in a digital home theater environment. Secondly, the four passive radiators extend the bass response even lower than what would normally be possible with traditional enclosures whose venting results in more noise than is acceptable in a high resolution home theater system. The included wall mounting bracket serves in both horizontal and vertical alignments, and also serves as a small footprint base. The WS-60 also comes with an attached round table top base for use on your mantle, A/V furniture, or on any flat surface.

Let me start off by saying I am no audiophile but I do know good sound and have come to expect it. I purchased the WS-60 to replace an old polk center channel that had a blown tweeter and also because I now have an lcd tv and could use this slick design if I need to put it on the wall. I just wish the sound was as nice as it's look. In my opinion the sound is very tinny which I believe is a result of the metal enclosure and small speakers. Though a little overpriced (don't pay retail ~ $200.-) For the Amazon Price however, they are an excellent deal. They look good, compact and slender (I take the grills off 'cause I like the "techno" look of the "naked" speakers). Solid (Alu) and convenient mounting choices. I have three (3): One Left / One Right and One Center and they sound brilliant and clear. Of course, with the size, you will not get adequate bass, so you'll NEED at least a Subwoofer with them!

Have used a single Athena WS-60 speaker as center channel in surround setup for about three months. It is clear and powerful for movies and music. A sub-woofer is still needed for bass sounds.

I was looking for a slim tower style speaker to upgrade my 2 front speakers for my surround sound system.
