Editorial Review: San Francisco's legendary EXODUS return with another slab of thrash metal, following up their "comeback record of the decade," "Tempo of the Damned".
Veteran San Francisco Bay Area thrashers Exodus' new album, Shovel Headed Kill Machine, was recorded at Trident studios in Pacheco, California and mixed by Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Arch Enemy), and is the follow-up to 2004's Tempo of the Damned is the band's first to feature new members Lee Altus (guitar; Heathen, ex-Die Krupps), Paul Bostaph (drums; ex-Slayer, Forbidden) and Rob Dukes (vocals). Longtime guitarist Rick Hunolt left the band due to his desire to concentrate on his family life. This limited edition comes packaged in a digipak and includes a bonus track. Nuclear. 2005.

This album carries my vote for the most aggressive, kick arse, headbang visciously album of all time. Period. Get it.
This album walks a perfect line between pure, sheer, unadulterated aggression, and going too far - you cruise on the sheer thrill of ultra-aggressive thrash anthems without ... Read More
Rating: - Bostaph does it again!!
I'll admit I haven't followed Exodus, but ever since hearing Paul Bostaph on Slayer's 1994 album Divine Intervention I've bought everything he's played on - by far my favorite metal drummer. Drumming aside, which, of course, is phenomenal, this is great thrash. Thick, cutting riffs with plenty of speed and changes to keep it interesting. Highly recommended.
Rating: - Destroys everything in it's path. 5 stars!!
I bought Exodus's 2005 release "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" just last month, and I really love it alot. I've been listening to this album for weeks, and I just can't get enough of it, in fact I practically listen to it almost every day of the week, and it's also risen to be one of my all time favorite metal albums in my collection. True, Exodus have always been one of the more underrated and overlooked bands in the thrash metal genre, and as a big fan of thrash metal that I'am, I've considered them ... Read More
Rating: - Fargin' A.......................................................
This CD has definitely grown on me and kicked me in the grill more than once. First of the drums on this album absolutely dominate. Paul Bostaph put in some overtime on this one. The guitars shred and rip as usual. The vocals fit this music very well. The bass is audible for the most part. Production wise I love Sneap's mixes, I will buy a cd just on that quality alone. Holt should have gotten a grammy for this one but we know how that goes. My Fav Exodus cd of all time.
